Roasting wood is a new, high temperature, vacuum kiln, technology used to modify the chemical structure of wood in order to achieve characteristics that, up to now, were present only in very few wood species, most of them tropical species: Teak, tropical cedar, and mahogany.
Below is an example of OSLO-America’s EURO OUT-SWING casement window made with yellow birch, roasted to a stunning dark walnut color; (click below to see other sample colors). It can be made with double sashes that open with no center post, articulating stainless steel hinges allow for easy cleaning from inside. Sashes are fastened with lever operated, multipoint locking. With this model a roll-down screen is hidden in the head, and certified lab tests prove it to be the highest performance out-swing casement in the industry. OSLO’s French doors are engineered to the same design standards.
HIGH PERFORMANCE Certified lab tests at ASTN E 1996 - 08 test procedure for Hurricane Zone 3, Missile impact and cycling pressures applied based on wind speeds up to 140 MPH, (55 psf) . Wind cycle tested to differential pressures imposed by ASTM procedure: 9,000 times (4,500 positive, 4,500 negative.)
